About the name:
"Mind of Winter" comes from the first line of Wallace Steven's "The Snow Man". It's been my favorite poem for a while, partly because it's hard to say the only poem you have memorized isn't your favorite (though I'm sure someone has a great story to the contrary...). In any case, it seemed apt, given my roots in North Dakota and the kind of responses I get when I tell people I'm a math graduate student.
